Tree Planting in our Cornish Home 

We recently re-aligned our tree planting commitment to the local Community Interest Company, Plant One Cornwall.

Plant One focus on using partnerships with businesses to put trees in the ground for the benefit of all. They work with landowners to identify and assess pieces of land before planting native tree species and wild hedgerows.

Their core aims are:

– Enable the local community to plant trees where they are most needed

– Restoring the Celtic Rainforest

– Habitat creation and improvement for wildlife

– Providing expertise that helps landowners to increase biodiversity

– Creating public access to woodland

– Increasing carbon capture within the UK

– Supporting local communities to increase the UK’s canopy cover

It’s hugely valuable and tangible work, and we couldn’t be prouder to be involved with this amazing local CIC in our home county. Members of our team will be able to join in with Plant One in planting trees at sites in Cornwall.

Founder, Carl Rowlinson, says Plant One is important because, “Britain was once a wooded isle, with over 98% of the land covered in trees. But now only 2% of that ancient wildwood survives. Cultural amnesia means we have forgotten our woodland past but we are people of the woods. Our fates are linked, ensuring the survival of our woodlands and trees is imperative to our future.”

Being involved with Plant One helps us, as a B Corp, continue to make good on our desire to contribute to environmental ambitions. Woodlands and trees are great for requesting carbon, with Forestry Commission  estimates suggesting that a native woodland captures 480 – 530 tCO2e/ha after 50 years. Putting this simply, it means that our partnership helps to plant native woodlands that will lock up carbon for years to come.

We are firm believers in mutually beneficial partnerships, and this new one with Plant One is just that. We are equally as passionate about reducing the impact of our (and our client’s) business on the world around us, we can’t wait to help build native woodlands with the Plant One team.
