We’re shortlisted for SME employer of the year at the Cornwall Apprenticeship Awards

We have such exciting news from Hiyield HQ! We’ve been shortlisted for SME Employer of the Year at the prestigious Cornwall Apprenticeship Awards. We truly feel honoured to gain this recognition amongst so many brilliant organisations dedicated to nurturing local talent right here in Cornwall.

Apprenticeships: a key part of who we are

For us, apprenticeships aren’t just a “nice to have”. They’re woven right into our story – a big part of how we’ve grown, and a huge part of who we want to be as a tech company rooted in our community.

Bringing apprentices into the team always brings something special: fresh perspectives, new ideas, and a bit of that brilliant spark that keeps us all on our toes. Their energy genuinely inspires us every day.

And we absolutely love giving people hands-on experience. Watching our team share their knowledge, support learning, and actively shape the next generation of tech talent? That’s something we’re incredibly proud of.

Jake and Alfie are software development apprentices, and Laura, our Head of Operations and Sustainability, is doing a Level 7 Apprenticeship in Leadership & Management. 

They aren’t “just” apprentices. They’re valued teammates, making a real impact from day one – and building careers with us that we hope will last for years to come.

A moment to celebrate

The Cornwall Apprenticeship Awards shine a spotlight on the effort and commitment shown by apprentices and employers all across the county. With the 10-year anniversary of the Awards coming up in 2026, being shortlisted this year feels all the more meaningful.

We couldn’t be prouder of our apprentices and everything they’ve achieved. Whatever happens on the night, we’re excited to celebrate them properly and cheer on all the other brilliant nominees, too. Wish us luck. 😀
