Their innovative Bactiquick water testing kit empowers anyone to test water quality on the spot using a portable, science-backed device. Whether you’re wild swimming, paddleboarding, or just enjoying a beach day with the family, Bactiquick gives you a clear, real-time indication of whether the water is safe via a simple traffic light system. To help this mission grow, MolEndoTech partnered with us to build a mobile app that connects to the device, retrieves data, and makes results easy to understand and share.

MolEndoTech needed more than just a data display; they needed a digital home for their testing kit that felt intuitive and trustworthy.
The goal was to build a Minimum Viable Product (MVP) that could:
- Connect seamlessly to the Bactiquick device via Bluetooth (BLE)
- Visualise results through an interface that is both brand-aligned and easy to use
- Automate data collection, retrieving the water reading, date, time, and GPS location instantly
- Build a foundation for a future of community sharing and data-driven environmental insights
The app needed to turn complex scientific data into a fast, insightful experience for everyone from eco-conscious swimmers to health-aware families.
The solution: an Agile approach to MVP development
We worked closely with the MolEndoTech team, using an Agile, sprint-based approach to design and build an MVP that focuses on core functionality and high performance. By working in rapid cycles, we ensured the platform remained streamlined and user-centric from day one.
Design with heart
The interface was designed to be welcoming for both new and returning users. We focused on a guided experience that removes scientific jargon, replacing it with clear visuals that ensure the most important safety data is always front and centre.
Smart features for instant clarity
The MVP delivers a seamless flow from the first login to the final result:
- Guided onboarding: A step-by-step flow that walks users through setup and testing
- Seamless BLE pairing: Integrated Bluetooth Low Energy communication for easy device syncing
- Real-time dashboard: A clean display showing the latest reading, sync status, and location, alongside an easy-to-understand traffic light status for instant clarity
- Secure account management: Full user flows for registration, secure login, and password resets
Under the hood: technical excellence
Our solution was built to perform reliably in various environments using a robust modern tech stack:
- Hybrid development with Capacitor: A cross-platform approach ensuring the app works beautifully on both iOS and Android
- High-performance UI with Nuxt.js 3: Using a component-driven design to keep the interface fast and clean
- Cloud-powered data: Securely uploading test data (including GPS coordinates and bacteria levels) to Google Firebase with encryption at rest and in transit
