The Wave website redesign
The Wave was ready to redesign their main website for a modern immersive user experience and to increase customer bookings.
The Wave website redesign
A bespoke website that unlocks marketing potential and that creates a virtual surf experience.
Hiyield has been helping The Wave deliver a comprehensive digital experience from before they opened up their doors in 2019. So far we have helped The Wave through various digital transformations as well as a high converting microsite for their new venture: The Camp at The Wave.
Up next, levelling up their core website
Chloe, Marketing Manager at The Wave said, ‘We needed a website that was fit for purpose, unlike our old website which we were unable to make big development changes to. Our key goals were to improve the customer experience through better navigation and to have a website that better represented our brand.’

Unlocking The Wave's website potential
For The Wave to have complete autonomy over its website’s content, it needed to be built using a content management system (CMS) that is easy to use for The Wave’s team and be flexible for future developments.
WordPress is said to be the best CMS for many reasons. For one, the interface is easy to use, and second, it’s very customisable. This made it the perfect choice for The Wave’s website. This meant that if Chloe or anyone at The Wave wanted to add new pages, blogs, offers or images, they can do it!
"Hiyield helped us to decide on a new CMS (WordPress), worked with us to build a new site map, created design examples for us to discuss and decide on"
Chloe Hughes, Marketing Manager at The Wave
Strong use of video and imagery
The design team at Hiyield suggested a variety of design routes. And the most significant design choice was the use of videography and photography. This paved the way for the new web design, echoing the look and feel of the brand.
Increasing revenue through group bookings
The Wave team supplied a new Information Architecture, where the CTO of this project, Matt Ville, worked together with Chloe and the rest of the team to make sure no opportunity is missed.
A huge win that came out of the discovery phase was the opportunity for The Wave to increase bookings and revenue.
It was identified that bulk bookings are very valuable to the business. Therefore, a suggestion from Matt was to simply place a parent page called ‘Groups’ onto the main navigation bar (see image below). This enhanced visibility of bulk bookings that a user can purchase, such as Corporate Away Days, Venue hire or Educational Purposes.
Customising WordPress for ease of use
Once all the final emends of the design were signed off, it was time for development. Hiyield’s in-house Full Stack WordPress developers coded the bespoke web design, as well as hooking into WordPress to customise the interface for The Wave team.
- PHP, HTML, CSS, JS
- WordPress
- Marvel for prototyping
- VSCode for Editor

The Wave's new online experience
The Wave’s new website is now live with an immersive design that reflects the onsite experience from the get-go!
Not to mention, Chloe and the Team at The Wave have complete control over their site, where they can create new pages for campaigns, run promotions, or even carry our A/B tests for better conversions.
‘Hiyield really did their best to understand our needs as a business, and they felt like an extension of our team. They’re also happy to question our ideas when needed, which is helpful for our team.’
