Enhancing Accessibility with a Bold New Digital Experience

Caption.Ed

CareScribe is a UK-based tech company on a mission to build inclusive, accessible software for people with disabilities. One of their flagship products, Caption.Ed, is a powerful transcription tool that helps users get more from their meetings, lectures, and everyday conversations.

As part of a wider restructure of their product suite, CareScribe approached Hiyield with a clear objective: to overhaul the Caption.Ed website and better serve its three key audiences – education institutions, organisations, and individual assessors – with a user experience that was accessible, flexible, and engaging.

The challenge

Caption.Ed’s existing site was in need of a refresh. It had grown static and clunky, with a design system and content structure that was difficult to manage. Separate blogs for each product created a maintenance headache, and their team needed a more intuitive way to showcase case studies, use cases, and the unique value of the Caption.Ed product to customers and stakeholders.

There was a delicate balance to strike. The new site needed to look sharp and deliver ‘wow’ moments while still meeting high accessibility standards and being easy to update internally.

Our Approach

CareScribe came to us with a well-defined brief and a strong sense of their audience. We worked collaboratively with their in-house design team, our team at Hiyield leading on the core UX and front-end structure. Through design reviews and feedback sessions, we developed an impactful and polished user experience that aligned with Caption.Ed’s brand.

Key features of the new site include:

  • Case study and use case storytelling, helping to bring the product’s impact to life.
  • Audience-specific landing pages tailored to educators, employers, and assessors.
  • Highly accessible front-end design, developed with best practices in semantic HTML, contrast, keyboard navigation and screen reader support.
  • Dynamic content sections like tabbed areas and ‘bento box’ layouts that make it easy for CareScribe’s team to keep the site fresh.
  • Scroll-triggered animation effects that add a sense of polish and engagement, without compromising on performance or usability.

Tech Stack

We built the Caption.Ed website using modern, flexible tools that make it easy to maintain and scale:

  • CMS: WordPress – giving the CareScribe team full control over content, from landing pages to blogs and case studies.
  • Accessibility: Developed with semantic HTML, high contrast colour modes, and tested against WCAG 2.1 AA standards.
  • Integrations: Custom forms powered by HubSpot, plus third-party tools for scheduling demos and support.

This stack gives CareScribe a robust platform that balances performance, accessibility, and content flexibility, without compromising on design.

We’re really pleased with the outcome of the new Caption.Ed site. It’s a big step forward for us in showcasing the value of the product in a way that’s accessible, engaging, and tailored to our audiences. The collaborative process with Hiyield helped bring our vision to life, and the result is a platform that’s easier to manage, more accessible, and designed to evolve with our needs.
