This month marks two years since Hiyield became a certified B Corp, although in many ways, it feels like we’ve been on this journey far longer. Before we reached certification in 2023, we spent several years thinking about it, planning for it, and doing the work to make sure we were building a business that genuinely lived its values.

10 years of B Lab

B Lab has just celebrated ten years and now has more than 10,000 B Corps worldwide.

The impact is clear:

  • B Corps achieved around 20% turnover growth between 2024 and 2025 — almost seven times higher than the UK SME average
  • B Corps are nearly twice as likely to run on 100% renewable energy
  • 54% of B Corps are led by gender-balanced teams compared to just 25% of all UK SMEs

That collective effort is inspiring, and we’re incredibly proud to be among it.

Cornwall B Local

Over the past couple of years, I’ve had the privilege of becoming a Cornwall B Local co-chair and connecting with so many brilliant B Corps across Cornwall and the UK. What stands out is how willing everyone is to share, support, and lift each other up. It genuinely feels like a movement powered by community.

Being a B Corp

At Hiyield, being a B Corp is woven into who we are. We formed our internal B Team to keep us accountable – making small, incremental improvements and checking in on what we stand for. Often, it’s the seemingly small decisions that matter:

  • What Christmas presents shall we buy the team?
  • How should we travel to a client meeting?
  • Are we choosing the most responsible option?

And then there’s the big stuff. We’ve moved all our managed hosting to a provider powered by 100% renewable energy. We’ve released a whitepaper exploring the link between AI and sustainability. We’re building a strong, values-driven team and investing in their development because they care just as much as we do about doing business the right way.

Although the new standards mean we won’t recertify until November 2027, we’re already embracing the chance to evolve. Starting early gives us the opportunity to make genuinely meaningful improvements, not just tick boxes.

We’re proud of the progress we’ve made, grateful for the people who’ve helped shape it, and ready for what comes next.
