User Research
User research is where it all starts. Building digital products that people love. If you don’t know who your users are and truly understanding what they want, how can you build something they want and need?

Why is user research so important?
User Research is our key to unlocking your understanding of why people choose to interact or behave in the way they do when using digital products. What triggers or motivates a user to choose certain journeys? What frustrations or pain points do they have?
How we carry out user research
At Hiyield we often adopt a qualitative approach to conducting user research and find talking to carefully identified target users, in a one-to-one setting, is an awesome way to generate real genuine user-led insights.
We design each research session in a way that creates an empathetic space, allowing for open, explorative conversations to take place and get to the heart of the problem you are trying to solve. By doing this, you will create a digital product that is designed to meet the needs of your users.
User research tools and methods
User Research is made up of numerous methods. Here are some of the techniques we use that are often the most effective when conducting qualitative or quantitative research:
- User Persona development
- One-to-one interviews
- Moderated observational
- Co-design workshops
- Surveys and questionnaires
- Empathy Mapping workshops
“Hiyield was the ideal match for our company ethos. Before jumping into the build process, the team took the time to understand our system, user, and business requirements – they essentially became an extension of Alcumus.”
- Tom Bennison, Head of Digital Marketing at Alcumus
User research is a fine art
There is a fine art to understanding what the findings and insights actually mean. There is a balance between taking for granted what a participant tells you what they want or like to what they actually would do or need in certain situations to complete a task. Pinpointing the golden nuggets of information and matching it to consistent observations are essential ingredients to designing and developing a product that meets your users needs.
